I was just wondering what javascript engine is safari 4 using and which company developed it?
It's called SquirrelFish Extreme, and it comes from the open source project called Webkit (which is also where they get their rendering engine).
P.S. Apple rebranded SquirrelFish Extreme to Nitro to make it shorter and better for 'marketing': http://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/we...
Safari uses Nitro java script engine. I guess it is developed by Apple themselves. I am not sure.
More details can be found in my blog http://perfhints.blogspot.com/2009/02/sa...
WebKit. Apple.
